Wedding season has begun and it’s already in full swing. Along with celebrating my own wedding anniversary of 4 years and counting, I’ve been attending ceremonies for newlyweds every weekend so far this month. It’s amazing how once you reach a certain age (mid-to-late-twenties, for me), everyone seems to be getting’ married and havin’ babies!
It must be spring!
With each wedding I attend it’s amazing to me all of the brilliant and original ideas people come up with. Even though there are hundreds of thousands of weddings happening every day of the year, there are plenty of ways to add your own personal touches to your ceremony and reception to make it uniquely your own.

For example, instead of serving cake (or even cupcakes) you could go more original and serve miniature pies, cookies, or doughnuts! (I have yet to see dessert crepes served at a wedding, but wouldn’t that be awesome!?)
Table centerpieces, guest souvenirs, and the accessories of you and your wedding party are all additional ways you can add your own personal flair to the overall event.
For a friend’s Alice in Wonderland themed wedding, we served hot and cold tea beverages at ever table, with adorable “Eat Me” sugar cookies served with dinner.
I also created the custom jewelry for the bridal party, which included a timepiece necklace for each bridesmaid reflective of the perpetually late rabbit from the original story. It was such a fun collection to design, and it turned out to be a hit for everyone who attended!
Another uncommon thing you can do, especially if you are having you wedding outside on a warm summer day, is ditch your shoes! Yes, really! Don’t even bother bringing ‘em!
Instead of uncomfortable heels that will have your feet screaming in pain by the end of the evening, why not feel the cool grass or sand beneath your toes with a pair of barefoot sandals? Perfect for a destination beach wedding!
